When you first get your Wireless Energy Monitor it will help you to identify those appliances that add the most to your electricity bill. You can then make an informed decision about how often, or when you use them, putting you back in control of your electricity bill.
Next you need to look at your Standby electricity usage which can account for as much as 25% of your electricity bill and represents those appliances that are just waiting to be used like your home entertainment system.
But lets face it, we like our Standby appliances, with a Wireless Energy Monitor you can identify those standby appliances that contribute the most to your standby energy consumption. This allows you to achieve the greatest possible reduction with the least inconvenience.
A Wireless Home Energy Monitor also allows you to check everything is turned off before going to bed or leaving the house and is a great reminder for the whole family to turn things off when they finish with them.
For those looking to chart your energy usage the Wireless Energy Monitor comes with a USB connection.
The Wireless Home Monitor consists of 3 main parts - an LCD display unit, Transmitter unit and Sensor clamp. This model of the Wireless Energy Monitor is supplied with 3 sensors for a 3 Phase connection. If you need a Single Phase monitor you need the Wireless Energy Monitor (Single Phase). An explanation of Single and 3 Phase can be found on the Learn More page.
If your going to chart your usage via a PC we recommend the Techtoniq Energy station software which is available with a 30 day free trial from here. Some example graphs are shown below.

The Daily Usage Graph is the primary graph used to monitor your usage. It will show your total daily usage for the past 30 days and with customizable colour coding to keep you on track.
In this example the lowest usage was on December 5th when no one was in the house for 24 hours, yet 10kW's was still used. This is known as your Standby usage which can represent up to 25% of your electricity bill.
This families average daily usage is 43kw so their Standby usage of 10kW represents approximately 24% of their total electricity usage and approximately 24% of their electricity bill. You can also see impact of running an air conditioner for most of the day on December 25th where 75kW was used.
With this knowledge you will quickly see where you can make savings, and what it costs to run appliances like the Air Conditioner.

This graph will track your usage by the minute and is most useful when you first get your Wireless Home Energy Monitor as it helps you immediately see benefits of turning off all those standby appliances.

You get most of the benefit in the first few months. I've got mine connected to the computer so I just go and download my usage every few weeks to ensure my old bad habits haven't returned. Made a huge difference to my bill, around $150 per quarter.
